Puppies. They sing about puppies.

I recently made two purchases in the music department.  The first is one of the newer albums by the band Rammstein.  The second is one of the Europe-only albums released by the Italian band Eiffel 65

You may remember Eiffel 65 from their big American single Blue.  A couple years back, I gave the whole album Europop a chance, and was surprised to find that I liked it quite a bit.  Blue isn't even the best song on the album, in my opinion.   Research showed that they'd done several other albums which never made it big over here, and I'm only now getting around to picking those up.  (They're a little bit tougher to get ahold of, since you can't Itunes them.)

Rammstein, I think, has an undeserved rep.  I mean, sure the lead singer SOUNDS like he's about three seconds away from ripping your heart out with his teeth.  And, true, the gunmen from the school shooting a few years back listed the band as one of their favorite influences.  However, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.  I don't really speak German, but I've decided what a few of the songs are about.

Puppies.  The guys from Rammstein just really like puppies.  They can't help it if the only way they can express themselves is through heavy-metal-industrial-techno music sung by a guy with the most evil-sounding voice in all of existence.

I mean, look at that publicity photo they released.  That should be enough, right?

Anyway, both albums are cool.  The Eiffel 65 one is better, I think.  Rammstein is great, but Mutter is still my favorite album of theirs, with Angel being their best single.

I love listening to their stuff, but unless you want to quickly drop them, don't try to find out what they're songs REALLY mean...

Some of them come close to M. Manson, but others aren't that bad, actually. ;)

See, Sudyn. I already know what they're about. Puppies. Sometimes unicorns. Happy things. I'm sure of it.

...of course, I have intentionally not looked, since if they were BAD I might not be able to enjoy the songs as much any more. But, since I'm confident they're about puppies, I'm okay. (Though, I think one is about the book Dune. I swear I hear the word "Fremen" repeated over and over....)

As for Du Hast--which is German for "Brown Puppies"--I enjoy it much. I actually now have every one of their studio albums, and a couple of the live ones.

hee hee... I like you're thinking... Now I just need to get my hands on their new album and think of puppies... lolol. Itunes, here I come...

Any suggestions for getting more Eiffle 65? I agree that their stuff is great...

ok. It shall be as you say then, and all will be brown puppies, pink puppies, yellow puppies, fluffy puppies and little puppies. ;)
I would not want to anti-fluffify the pink cloud, hehe.
Rosenrot, btw, is ... a lovesong about um... a fairytale girl. Her sister's name would be Schneeweißchen, but she's not mentioned in the song.
But seriously now. They do have nice balads... if they can be called that. I don't know which one I like best, though.

oh wow! Who would have guessed you'd be one to listen to Rammstein! =D
I love Rammstein, and Mutter is one of my favorites by them, too.
If you have any questions about the texts, you can always drop a comment over at my journal. I've checked out some of the translations in the web, and they are so... wrong. Many of them hilariously so. Others so wrong they hurt my eyes.
I don't remember if "du hast" is on the Mutter album, but maybe you'd like to check it out. The lyrics are quite ironic... if you know what they are saying. ;)

I used to LOVE Eiffel 65. I think I still have their album somewhere around here...

I liked their remake of the Depeche Mode song Stripped...quite serial killer aggro when they do it.

Also, there's a comedy version of Haust (spelling?) online which is all "Do..do house...do housework..." and goes from there.

OMG: That puppy! Must cuddle that puppy!
Is that a Random Brandon photo, or is that a Brandon Puppy?
