Duty to The Fans...

So, I hope you all are satisfied.  My wife has begun using you all as an excuse to feed me vegetables instead of reasonable, healthy food like Kraft Mac and Cheese.  Today, I was given a salad for lunch, and when I complained she said "It's my duty to your fans to make sure you live a long and healthy life."  Honestly.  The things I suffer for you people.

I actually don't mind salads when they're produced properly.  Properly meaning with iceberg lettuce used as a vehicle for getting dressing, croutons, and bacon into my mouth.  But these 'salads' that Pemberly makes barely have any lettuce in them at all!  They've got all this colorful junk like carrots and peppers and broccoli.  Really, who puts broccoli in a salad?  It's bad enough when you have to eat that stuff cooked.  (As a good friend of mine often says in reference to salads: "That's not food, that's what food eats.")  And, the lettuce in these salads of hers is rather suspect.  It's not a good, nutrient-free iceberg at all, but some sort of weed or something.

(Note: I'm mostly being facetious here.  I do like her salads; they're just not the sort of food I'd make myself.  You should know that when Pemberly and I went to register for our wedding gifts at Target, I did take the little scanner thing and register for two objects for me.  An XBox and a pack of Kraft Mac and Cheese.  Never did get that XBox, but I got like thirty boxes of mac.  Opening our wedding gifts was rather amusing, as often they'd have a box of Kraft tied to them in some way.)

I'll stop whining now and will try to post some kind of useful update tomorrow....

Rabbit Food

My fiancee has decided that WE need to go on a diet so that she can fit into her wedding dress (as if that was a problem)! I think she's just trying to tell me as nicely as possible that I am getting a little "hefty". I feel your pain!! :)

You ate a salad.. april fools? ;)

I agree, however, a good Chef's salad is good, even if it's not as healthy as salads are supposed to be.

We gave my youngest son a box of mac and cheese as a joke under the Christmas tree one year. The joke was on us. He was ecstatic! He wanted to go and make it right then and not have to share it with anyone! You've given me the idea for a wedding present for him when the day comes. Thank you.

so why haven't you reminded her of the "scientific" studies that prove things like bbq and mac and cheese are "brain food" that help you create more and better stories for your fans? :D

Glad to have you aboard

I just found out that you are going to finish the Wheel of time series. I am not familiar with your writings but will endeavor to read your books, Elantris; Mistborn and Well of Ascension. I'm sure that this will give me a good idea as to why Harriet chose you to write the 12th book.
In reading some of your blogs there was a discussion about Robert Jordans 10th book. When I first read it I also thought that is was slow and believed that it was filler of words to extend the books length (I have the same feeling with other authors). Reading through the series a second time I found that it did serve a purpose and in the telling of the story.

Mmm. I love mac and cheese, especially with chopped up veggie dog pieces in it. The ultimate comfort food.

Damn it, you've instigated a crave ...

LOL. You registered for Mac & Cheese? That's awesome. I know this guy who thought it would be really funny to put baby clothes and diapers and stuff on their wedding registry. His poor fiancee had to come back to the store the next day and take all that stuff off.

HAHA! Too funny! I love love salads but I have to be honest and admit that I prefer "real" food as you put it.

YOu know I think I have a box of Mac & Cheese! Quick and easy dinner! Good thing your post reminded me I had that!

So... are we to assume your good friend is indeed Red Foreman? *grin*
That's one of my favorite quotes from That 70's Show, where Red's supposed to be eating healthy. Kitty puts a plate of unidentifiable health food in front of him and he whines, "Kitty! This isn't food, this is what food eats!" Laurie points to the boiled chicken on his plate and says, "ugh, it's gray. Um, I mean, yay! It's gray!"

And speaking of food and tv, any one else secretly sad that Stewie Griffin was unsuccessful in ridding the world of broccoli forever?

Kraft Mac and Cheese should have it's own block on the food pyramid. End of discussion. :)
